At Greenaway Sediment Control, we strive to be the go-to solution when it comes to sediment control. This includes not only installing and supplying great quality sediment control, but also informing the community around us with the latest news and information regarding sediment control.
The last few days, we’ve received information about a Sediment and Erosion Control Blitz going around New South Wales. We have been warned that developments of all sizes will be targeted. This includes anything from small home renovations including patios and pools, to large building sites and major road developments.
If you want to ensure that your company won’t be getting fined, make sure that your sites are in order with the proper sediment control. Common areas that may lead to fines include collapsed fencing, sediment bags, showing wear-and-tear or leaking, containment of sediment stockpiles, or no appropriate sediment control put into place.
By law, builders and developers are required to have proper sediment control. If the site isn’t up to code, your company can face fines from $8,000-$15,000 for each incident.
As we’ve stated in our previous posts of What Is Sediment Control and Why You Need It, sediment control has been one of the top priorities of the council. If sediment isn’t properly contained, soil, dirt and mud can run off from the work site and directly pollute the rivers and waterways, causing extreme environmental problems.
This is exactly what the ‘Get the Site Right’ Initiative is all about. Keeping the waterways safe and free of pollution by targeting major possible areas of pollution- like building sites. If you want to check out more information about the initiative- check out Our Living River website here. Their main goal is to make the Parramatta River swimmable again by 2025.
